The Institute for Classical Asian Medicine offers professional health care services through its affiliated clinic, the North Jersey Center for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine . All practitioners are state certified/licensed health care providers and are nationally board certified in Oriental Medicine, the highest level of national certification available in the United States.
Acupuncture Acupuncture is the practice of inserting very fine sterile needles along areas of the body to treat disease, stimulate the immune system, and reestablish internal homeostasis. Generally, acupuncture treatment is relatively painless and most patients experience a deep sense of relaxation or wellness following treatment. Our practitioners are experienced in rarely seen classical approaches to acupuncture treatment that are quite different from those systems currently taught at most American schools of acupuncture and Oriental medicine.
Chinese Herbal Consultations Chinese herbal medicine is a complex science where the practitioner custom designs a formula of a dozen or more herbs for each patient based on their specific needs and conditions. Many acupuncturists dabble in Chinese herbs or recommend the use of basic pre-tableted formulas. Few practitioners are trained or experienced in the use of custom formulas, the professional standard of care in Asia and classically how herbal medicine were intended to be used. Our practitioners are all nationally certified in Oriental Medicine and are experienced in the use of individualized herbal formulas. Oriental Medicine Consultation Oriental medicine has a unique look at the body in health and disease. Consultations allow the practitioner to determine systems of strength and weakness in an individual and make specific diet or lifestyle recommendations based on the principles of Oriental medicine. According to traditional medical systems, there is no single diet or lifestyle plan that is appropriate for everyone. Everything, from even the amount of water a person should drink, varies from person to person. Qigong Instruction and Therapy We offer instruction in a wide variety of Qigong techniques for both the treatment and prevention of disease. Qigong Therapy, a form of energy medicine, is also available for patients.
